Legal immigration is essential to our country's growth and economic success, as immigrants contribute to our labor force, create jobs, and pay taxes.
On the other hand, illegal immigration undermines our country's laws and hurts our economy, healthcare, justice, and welfare systems. Illegal immigration refers to the act of entering the country without proper documentation or overstaying a visa. According to the Pew Research Center, there are currently an estimated 10.5 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. This number has a significant impact on our country's resources and creates an unfair burden on taxpayers.
Illegal immigration results in a range of negative consequences for our country. Firstly, it strains our economy, as undocumented immigrants often work for lower wages and in dangerous conditions, undercutting the wages and safety standards of American workers. They also frequently do not pay taxes, resulting in a loss of revenue for the government. Secondly, illegal immigration strains our healthcare system, as undocumented immigrants often lack access to health insurance and cannot afford necessary medical care, resulting in high costs for taxpayers.
Thirdly, illegal immigration results in an increased burden on our justice system, as undocumented immigrants are more likely to commit crimes and require law enforcement resources. This, in turn, can lead to overcrowding in our jails and prisons, adding to the burden on taxpayers. Finally, illegal immigration can place a significant burden on our welfare system, as undocumented immigrants often rely on government assistance programs without contributing to them.
Despite these well-documented negative impacts, the Biden administration has downplayed the problem of illegal immigration, suggesting that there is no real issue and that it is merely a fabrication by opponents of immigration. This position is not only disingenuous but also puts our country's economy and social fabric at risk.
It is essential to remember that legal immigration is what makes the United States unique and the greatest nation on Earth. We should continue to welcome and support those who come to our country legally, but we must also address the issue of illegal immigration to ensure that it does not undermine our country's laws and values. The Biden administration must take action to address illegal immigration to protect the American people and our economy.
